Gabriela Ruiz in Residence at Fountainhead

Fountainhead Residency is proud to welcome Gabriela Ruiz as our artist-in-residence from May 14 to June 11, 2025.

A self-taught multidisciplinary artist, Ruiz’s vibrant and immersive practice spans sculpture, video, painting, and fashion. Drawing on her upbringing in LA’s San Fernando Valley and her roots in Mexican culture, Ruiz creates kaleidoscopic environments that explore identity, home, and the personal meaning of space. Her installations—often composed of found materials like thrifted furniture and insulation foam—double as performance stages or backdrops for fashion and self-expression, blurring the line between functional design and fantastical world-building.

Ruiz’s work is a vivid fusion of DIY ethos, cultural memory, and subcultural fantasy—offering viewers a rich sensory and emotional experience that is as deeply personal as it is visually explosive. Stay tuned for upcoming opportunities to meet the artist and experience her work during the residency.
