WAAW is open to all galleries all over the world that wish to participate and that are willing exclusively to showcase female identifying artists during the course of that one week each year. Art institutions and museums are encouraged to host panel discussions, to host their own talks and events in celebration of female artists and exhibit female artists during the WAAW London.

Criteria to be accepted as a participant at WAAW

  • Participants are required to be willing to exhibit female identifying artist/artists for the full duration of the week (8th-15th June annually) at their venue/gallery.
  • Participants are required to display the WAAW logo on their website, social media and window display (if there is one) during the week.
  • Participants are required to submit images and all information about their female artists and events for the WAAW week on the 30th of April of every year to be included in to press release for that year
  • Participants are required to advance gender equality
  • Participants are encouraged to ensure that at least 50% of represented artists are  female.
  • Participants must inform WAAW about their programme for the week.
  • Participants must follow the U.K. government’s guidance when qualifying an artist as a “woman” which defines gender as a social construction relating to behaviours and attributes based on labels of masculinity and femininity. https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/environmentalaccounts/articles/whatisthedifferencebetweensexandgender/2019-02-21
